Infertility

Myth 1) Everyone who does fertility treatments ends up like Jon and Kate or Octomom.
The truth is, most people are pretty careful. In Vitro Fertilization(what we did) is very controlled.
We chose to put back two embryos which would have most likely resulted in twins at most. Jon
and Kate did Intrauterine Insemination where there is little to no control over how many eggs
are fertilized. Octomom is just crazy, haha!
Myth 2) Only women of advanced maternal age are affected by infertility.
The truth is, women of all ages are affected. I was 23 when we began trying for a baby.
Myth 3) Fertility drugs cause birth defects
The truth is, although there is speculation regarding this, there is no concrete evidence to support
this theory. I actually had someone say (not directly to me) that maybe this was what 'caused'
our baby to have Down syndrome. Yeah...not so much!
Myth 4) Doing fertility treatments is going against nature or God.
The truth is...with all of the science and technology in the world, no one can make the embryo
implant into the uterus and produce a baby 10 months later. Science only gets you so far. The
rest is up to the good Lord.
